The colder months are arriving and it's that time The colder months are arriving and it's that time of year when I just want to cosy up on the sofa with a cuppa. A lot of people struggle as the seasons change and it's more important than ever to carve out time for our favourite self-care practices.

Here are some ideas for somatic resourcing in the winter:
👉 Put on warm and cosy clothing. Use blankets and heating pads to create a comfortable and warm environment.
👉 Enjoy hot drinks like herbal teas or warm soups to create internal warmth.
👉 Wrap up warm and spend some time in nature, even if it's just a short walk in a winter wonderland.
👉 Stay hydrated with warm drinks like herbal teas, hot water with lemon, or warm broths.
👉 Try gentle and mindful movement practices, such as yoga or tai chi, to keep your body active and give you some grounding. Pay attention to the sensations in your body as you move.
👉 Use oils or lotions to give yourself a soothing self-massage. Pay attention to areas of tension or tightness and massage them with care.
👉 Create a warm and inviting atmosphere in your living space using soft lighting, such as candles or fairy lights. Dim the lights in the evening to signal to your body that it's time to wind down and relax.
👉 Explore seasonal, nourishing foods that are abundant in the winter. This could include root vegetables, hearty stews, and warming spices. Pay attention to the flavours and textures of the food as you eat, savouring each bite.
👉 Practice deep and intentional breathing exercises to connect with your breath. Inhale slowly and deeply, allowing your belly to expand, and exhale fully, releasing any tension.
👉 Set up a dedicated cosy space where you can relax and unwind, perhaps with blankets, cushions, and soft textures. Include items that bring you joy or have sentimental value.
👉 Tune into a sense of gratitude for the winter season and its unique qualities. Notice the sensations, such as the crisp air or the touch of cold on your skin.

What's your favourite way to stay well in the winter?
